ALL IMAGES ARE LIARS: WE LOOK HAPPY IN THIS PHOTOGRAPH BUT IT IS NOT THE FULL PICTURE
We don’t always tell the story we wanted to tell.
For each one of them the other became a symbolic figure. Each settled to a dream-version of the other. They were mutual editors in real time, intent on their own narrative arc.
Marcio k. Canabarro and Savio Debernardis explore how moments of aesthetic and perceptual disruption of vision, of narrative, and of orientation might become fertile ground for new forms of encounter. They speculate a form of access that does not depend on the supremacy of the visual, but rather invites multiplicity, fragmentation, and sensory heterogeneity where meaning becomes distributed across affect, memory, and fantasy.
What emerges in the neglected spaces between the performance and its memory, between staging and waiting, between who we are and who we’ve stopped being?
Can temporary disorientation lead to new modes of understanding, participation, and cohabitation before stable meanings or structures take hold?
