PICCOLA! Intrecci
17/05/2025, 03.30 PM
Workshop for families
As part of the One Year Score program, the Oltreforma collective presents PICCOLA!, a calendar of activities for children held in the spaces of Scuola Piccola Zattere, which will become places of encounter, experimentation, and community-building—not only for artists and researchers but also for the local families and their vibrant community.
Inspired by the historic scuole piccole of Venice - civic organizations whose communal spirit was often rooted in the sharing of arts and crafts - the PICCOLA! series will focus on hands-on making and the exploration of various techniques and expressive forms, adopting an experiential learning approach. The workshops are grounded in a rethinking of the systems through which we make sense of the world, reinterpreting them to create new forms of expression.
This initiative will engage in dialogue with Geometrie del Possibile, an installation by artist Andrea Canepa designed for the Ridotto, a space within the institution dedicated to younger audiences and the venue for the activities.
The first event, Intrecci, is a sensory workshop on textile arts, and will take place on Saturday, May 17.
In this weaving workshop, children will explore textile art in a sensory and creative way. They will engage with various fabrics and fibers, discovering how each material can tell stories, reflect regions and production processes, and evoke emotions. Participants will also learn basic weaving techniques using a small loom to create tapestries that reflect their own stories and personalities.
The workshop will take place on Saturday, May 17, from 3.30 pm to 5 pm.
It is free of charge and recommended for children aged 6 to 11.

Oltreforma is a team of museum educators with experience in some of the most prominent cultural institutions in Venice, as well as in local schools and community organizations. We are a young and dynamic collective that has embraced the challenge of offering a new and different educational approach.
In our projects, we adopt an interactive, inclusive, and interdisciplinary methodology, combining physical and experiential engagement with aesthetic exploration. Supporting our practice is a continuous commitment to research and training in the fields of social museology, non-formal education, inclusion, multisensory mediation, and Corpoliteracy.
