Starting from the historical, social, and cultural context, the seminar provides participants with a comprehensive overview of the key events that have shaped Deaf history and Sign Language from the 16th to the 21st century.
The lesson will focus not only on the evolution of these events but also on the educational, cultural, and political implications related to their affirmation.

The seminar will be entirely signed by Gabriele Caia, a native speaker of Italian Sign Language (LIS) at Ca' Foscari University. The lecture is accompanied by LIS - Italian interpreters.
