Aliaskar Abarkas presents a sound performance in collaboration with flautist Ali Choupani.

Bringing together Abarkas’s explorations of breath and whistling with Choupani’s expertise in flute techniques such as whistle tone and wind tone, the two artists weave a dialogue of air, vibration, and resonance. Their sounds converge in the moment, generating unexpected overtones and multiphonic textures through collective listening and improvisation.

Engaging loosely with the score Abarkas is developing as part of his residency at Scuola Piccola Zattere — in response to Vivaldi’s The Contest Between Harmony and Invention, composed in Venice exactly 300 years ago — the performance reflects on the fundamentals of emotion, mood, and atmosphere.
