As part of Inziwayates—the public program by artist Nabil Aniss developed during his residency at Scuola Piccola Zattere—anthropologist Mériam Cheikh took part in a conversation dedicated to ritual possession in Moroccan lila and gnawa ceremonies. Drawing on Cheikh's ethnographic research on sex work economies and women's gatherings in Moroccan cities, the event explored possession not as pathology but as embodied competence, capable of destabilizing hegemonic epistemologies and reconfiguring dominant social orders from the margins.
