Unruly Vessel marked the culmination of Rachel Youn’s research and production residency at Scuola Piccola Zattere, bringing together new works developed in Venice alongside recent pieces. Through kinetic sculptures and installations combining wellness devices, everyday objects, and artificial plants, the artist explored the relationships between the body, movement, and ritual in contemporary society. By reactivating discarded objects and transforming their mechanisms into repetitive and ambiguous gestures, Youn investigated the boundaries between care and control, pleasure and discomfort, discipline and liberation.
