La barbarie n’est jamais finie (Barbarism is never over) was a lecture by Louisa Yousfi, curated by Piersandra Di Matteo and Edoardo Lazzari in March 2025. The seminar explored the concept of “barbarism” and cultural resistance through Yousfi’s book In Defence of Barbarism: Non-Whites Against the Empire. The author examines unassimilable otherness and Western rhetoric around integration policies, with a particular focus on the performativity of rap, which, in bringing language into being, puts conventional grammar under strain, giving form to images, words, and gestures that reject the lure of reconciliation.
