Workshop for families

Oltreforma presents ASSEMBLAGE, a sensory workshop for children dedicated to sculpture.

When we think of sculpture, our imagination often turns to classical imagery and traditional materials such as marble, wood, and bronze. But can we imagine a sculpture that is soft, light, fragile? Can it be formless, abstract?

Inspired by the works of Gaëlle Choisne, currently on view at Scuola Piccola Zattere, the workshop will explore sculpture in an unusual and experimental way.
Through an assemblage-based practice, the artist creates polymaterial installations using found objects, fabric scraps, and both natural and artificial elements.
In her compositions, each material becomes a story—carrying memories, meanings, and sensations.

During the workshop, participants will explore a variety of materials, observing and touching them to describe their sensory qualities.
These characteristics will guide the creation of a personal material and symbolic language, culminating in the assemblage of a floating sculpture.
Each composition will reflect the perceptions and sensitivities of the individual participant, inviting others to touch and explore them.

The workshop is free of charge and recommended for children aged 6 to 11.
It will take place inside Geometrie del Possibile, an installation by artist Andrea Canepa, specially designed for the Ridotto, the institution’s space dedicated to younger audiences.

To register, please email [email protected] by 5 PM on Friday, September 19.
